Keiko 2025 – Update 5
Keiko’s puppies will be three weeks old tomorrow and things are starting to get much livelier in the whelping area. All eyes are now open and the pups are noticeably more alert, responsive, and mobile. They are getting up onto their feet with more confidence and are starting to engage more with each other and their environment.
We have begun weaning today with a smooth white fish mousse, which has gone down very well as their first introduction to food. In the coming days we will begin gradually mixing in mashed up kibble to help transition them onto a more solid diet at a gentle pace.
The whelping box has now been extended to include a toilet area, and we are already seeing them naturally starting to move away from their sleeping area to use it. A few toys have also been added to their space for gentle enrichment as they begin to explore and interact with new textures and objects.
We are continuing with early neurological stimulation and daily desensitisation, all of which help build strong foundations as they grow and develop.
Everything is progressing well and Keiko remains calm and attentive with her pups!
